Salon du Chat at Culture and Chips Festival
You know those moments when you find yourself conversationally challenged?
When the person opposite you just talks about the weather/their family/where they went to school a million years ago? And you just don’t know how to break the cycle and get stuck into some good quality, witty, and potentially life changing conversation? That is the moment when you need Salon du Chat.
Adding a touch of theatre and the surreal to the art of conversation, Salon du Chat is an arts project with a twist. Recreating the atmosphere of Bohemian Paris, with a knowing nod to online chat rooms, Salon du Chat is a shrine to the art of good conversation. Relax with a welcoming glass of bubbly as you browse the Conversation Menu. Then a friendly chat hostess will seat you at a table with a mix of friends and strangers and help you to spark up the conversation. Like any meal the starters will get the palate warmed up, while mains are for meatier matters and dessert could get risqué…
With the help of Limerick City of Culture 2014 funding Salon du Chat is popping up all around Limerick this year. The next one is taking place on Monday 2nd June (bank holiday) at 7:30pm in the stunning Spiegeltent as part of Culture and Chips, Limerick’s new food festival.
Each menu is carefully crafted to include an eclectic mix of politics, pop culture, music, sport, word play and the whimsical. The Salon chefs are currently working on a tempting menu that will satisfy even the most conversationally starved folk. But here’s a sneak preview of what to expect: For starters you can choose from ‘Trump Tartlets’ and ‘Mussels from Brussels’ amongst others, in the mains there’s a superb selection including ‘Political Leftovers’ and ‘Fresh Hand Cut Services’ and for the sweet toothed there is a wonderful array of desserts including ‘Late Night Chipper Tales’ and ‘Unconscious Coupling’.
Salon du Chat – expect to talk, expect to listen, expect to take responsibility for having the conversation of your life!
