The friends of Limerick lady, Sharlene Finucane, have created a fundraiser to help their “lovely friend get the treatment she needs & truly deserves” as she battles Stage four cancer.
Sharlene has had a tough year following her diagnosis in October, 2022, and her friends are hoping to raise in the region of €200,000 to help with her treatment at the Burzynski Clinic Cancer Centre in Texas.
The young Limerick woman is battling “with everything she has” in spite of the huge impact the diagnosis has had on her life, with her friends writing on the GoFundMe page, “Anyone that knows Sharlene Finucane, knows what an absolute legend and class act she is.”
“Unfortunately, the last year has been a tough one for our gorgeous friend as last October she was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer. In spite of being dealt this huge shock and impact on her life, Shaz has chosen to take on this battle with everything she has, and has been nothing short of inspiringly positive throughout it all.”
The page explains Sharlene is attending chemotherapy and radiotherapy in University Hospital Limerick the last while, but she also knows other options are available which can help support the treatment.
Established in 1977, the Burzynski Clinic has grown to be an internationally known cancer centre that provides cancer treatments, Sharlene’s friends are raising the much-needed funds to help get their friend to the treatment centre.
The GoFundMe page reads, “Burzynski Clinic Cancer centre in Texas offers precision, custom-built cancer therapy for a patient’s genetic makeup offering personalised medicine which includes a combination of targeted therapies and immunotherapies with conventional methods.
“It’s a custom-built therapy that can help Sharlene heal and will give her an extra fighting chance to beat this cancer.”
The friends note the treatment comes with a significant cost which “so far are looking in the region of €200,000”.
“We know people want to come together to help our Shaz, so we set up this Gofundme in order to ease the financial burden that this treatment will incur,” said Sharlene’s friends.
“This is a way to help Sharlene heal, to fight this cancer and to get her back to living her life again in the best way possible,” They said.
