Limerick singer Sinead O’Brien experienced a magical moment as her newly released song ‘Today’ soared to the top of the iTunes Charts on the same weekend the Limerick hurlers lifted the Liam McCarthy cup in Croke Park.

The track was released the same day as the All-Ireland hurling final showdown between Limerick and Kilkenny on July 23, and ecstatic fans showed their unwavering support for the talented songstress, sending “Today” to the top spot on the iTunes Charts within hours of its release.

In 2018, ahead of the All-Ireland hurling final, Sinead O’Brien had shared the stage with the Limerick hurlers on the first occasion.

The singer had graced the hallowed grounds of Croke Park with her incredible voice, and this year had the opportunity to perform the song at a homecoming event for the hurling team, saying on Instagram, “This almost beat the buzz of singing in Croke Park in 2018 almost.”

Sharing the news of her achievement, Sinead who is also an influencer and entrepreneur commented on a snippet of the video accompanying the song, she said, “My heart is fit to burst. Thank you to every single person who has downloaded, shared and listened to my song.”

She continued, paying tribute to her late father who passed away this year, she said, “I hope you love the video. Every word is for all of you and every single twirl was with you Dad. We danced together on the beach that day. Thank you so much Brian O’Keefe for doing the best job.”

Talking about the inspiration behind the song Sinead said; “I have been singing for many years now and I thought it would be nice to write my own song. I had thought it would be a wedding song and it has grown since and people see it as a beautiful love song.”
