St Clements College donate to Pieta House as part of Anois Youth Leadership Programme

5th year students of St. Clements College have made a generous donation to Pieta House as part of the fundraising efforts of the Anois Youth Leadership Programme.

The ANOIS Youth Leadership Programme which has been a staple of many secondary schools across Limerick and has been offered by the Limerick Diocesan Pastoral Centre since 1994.

The objectives of this programme is the formation of small groups who will contribute in a practical way to the enhancement of their community environment. The programme involves elements of personal, interpersonal and spiritual development.

The programme is a self-development leadership course, aimed at Transition Year students, which has adapted the Paolo Freire “Training for Transformation” programme for young people. The programme follows an “active learning” model, where the groups learn by doing, they reflect on what was done, how it was done and how it can be improved.

St. Clement’s College provides to all students with a Catholic education, within the appropriate curriculum which stresses personal responsibility and healthy personal development through self-discipline, a positive attitude towards life, a sense of personal integrity and an appreciation of the worth of all individuals.

The schools aim is that the students are provided with a realistic education which attempts to enable each student to cope with the problems of life by having a confidence in God through a living faith, an awareness of others and their problems and having the capacity for being compassionate and sympathetic to those in need.

This generous donation to Pieta House comes at a time where they need it most, while having the Darkness into Light virtual for the second year running.

Pieta House has been around since 2006 and has since seen and helped over 58,000 people in distress or contemplating harming themselves.

Throughout the pandemic, charities have suffered due to a lack of funds. Normal fundraisers have been cancelled due to Government guidelines, so any funds raised for the charities helps a lot in their time of need. Pieta House needs funds now more than ever.
