The St Gabriels Foundation Ladies Lunch at the Savoy Hotel is an annual festive fundraiser for charity.

Founded in 1961, St Gabriel’s provides services to children with disabilities and their families through two Children’s Disability Network Teams (Treehouse and South City), Hydrotherapy, Orthotics and a purpose-built state-of-the-art Children’s Respite House in Mungret.

The organisation, which was named ‘Best Not For Profit’ at the Limerick Chamber Regional Business Awards in 2022, was delighted to host the event again. Organised by the fundraising committee of Agnes Bouchier-Hayes, Lucia Randles and Rita Geary, a raffle was made possible thanks to the generosity of local businesses and people who donated prizes for the event. St. Gabriel’s CEO, Treasa McAuliffe, said she found it heartening to see so many familiar faces at the event. “The committee works tirelessly to make sure that the day is a success. The support from local businesses and the local community for St. Gabriel’s has been so welcome. It is great to be recognised for the great work being done at our centres across the city and county,” she said.

“Events like this mean that we can raise much-needed funds so that we can continue to develop the services we provide for people living with disabilities in Limerick and the Mid-West. We are so grateful to The Savoy Hotel for their annual support,” Ms McAuliffe added.

Treasa said although the group receive funding and support from the HSE, there is always a “deficit”, adding, “We’re always looking at our how we can improve our  services and supply more, there’s never enough for children so it’s really important that we can add to our services and develop and maintain the services we have, so it’s so important, the fundraising is such an important part of what we do.”

St Gabriel’s fundraising efforts are ongoing and the group are calling on the support of those interested to help maintain and expand the vital services offered by the foundation.
