On September 10 and 11, the popular and renowned course Training for Transformation begins and will take place every second weekend (Saturday and Sunday) over five weekends from 10am – 4:30pm. Training for Transformation is based on the theories of Brazilian educationalist Paulo Freire where participants learn about transforming themselves, their communities, and society into sources of justice and equality. The overall aim of the training is to encourage the development of skills to support volunteering at a community level. Training for Transformation is free and open to men and women. It will take place in person in a Limerick City venue and is supported by the Economic and Social Intervention Fund. Places are limited.

Finally, Monday, September 19 will see the return of Creative Writing running from 10am – 12pm for 10 weeks. Creative Writing will be facilitated by LCETB tutor Valerie O’Connor who will guide participants in a safe environment to explore and express their creative side and examine various writing techniques. Creative Writing is open to all levels of writers. Previous Creative Writing participants had their stories become part of a podcast series, ‘Unmasked: Shades of Women During Covid-19’, which can be accessed through Soundcloud.

Places on each course are limited and must be booked in advance. WCI Limerick is a feminist organisation – their mission is to support women through collective and practical actions to achieve their full human rights and true equality.
