West Limerick 102FM has called on its loyal listeners for support with fundraiser to help with the community radio station’s long-term sustainability

West Limerick 102FM has reached out to its loyal listeners for help in clearing an existing debt that stands as a barrier to the community radio station’s long-term sustainability.

The community radio station which provides a platform for local voices is facing financial challenges as it tries to move toward registering as a charity and accessing crucial grant funding.

The station, renowned for its dedication to highlighting community concerns and voices, currently deals with high daily running costs making it difficult for the group to clear the debts independently.

Writing on the group’s GoFundMe page, a spokesperson said, “High daily running costs mean that we are unable to do this without help. Clearing this debt will enable us to register as a charity, and to avail of grant funding not currently available to us.

“This grant funding will go towards new equipment and provide a sustainable future for the station for many years to come. We are appealing for your help at this time, to enable us to clear the debt, and plan for a long future for the station.”

The GoFundMe page explains, “We are asking all of our loyal listeners to support us in whatever way you can.”

They noted the community radio station “provides an essential platform for the people of the area to raise their concerns and make their voices heard”.

They asked for the public’s support, saying, “Please help us to continue to provide this valuable service for many years to come.”

The West Limerick 102FM appeal highlights the importance of collective support in maintaining this valuable service.

The station’s commitment to serving the community hopes the assistance from its loyal listeners will help overcome the financial hurdle securing the service for the future.
