The Wild Geeze podcast is the brainchild of burlesque chanteuse Miss Lavelle and comedic farming activist Breda Larkin. On this podcast the girls are documenting the wild women of Ireland, singing about vaginas and politics and sharing their experience of grief with their new series ‘Good Grief’.

The girls met at Miss Lavelle’s Limerick Cabaret show ‘Chez Le Cabaret’ which was being held in Arthur’s Quay at the ground-breaking artistic haven that was Chez Le Fab, all made possible by the innovative, charming Lesley Anne Liddane.

That night the girls found out they had a shared bereavement. They both had lost a sibling, Laura’s older sister Anneka from suicide and Breda’s eldest brother John by an accident abroad. They knew there was some subconscious understanding and instant connection and that was it.

The pandemic has left the girls unable to express themselves through comedy and song to a live audience, so they are staying creative and connected throughout the lock down with their “The Wild Geeze Good Grief”, Podcast.

The girls have one goal, and that is to help others saying, “We wanted to create the podcast we wished existed when we were going through the thick of our grief, a less sandals and candles approach and a more honest and humorous expression.”

Their chalk and cheese dynamic makes for hilarious content, think country mouse meets city rat but their shared love of morbid goofy humour makes this podcast flourish.

One listener describes the podcast as humorous, big-hearted, fearless, insightful and honest, while another calls it, “explorative” and “refreshing” as these are the conversations we need to be having.

In the podcast the girls share coping techniques and stories of their wild grieving process to empathise with the listener. No topic is off limits and no grief stone is left unturned. Breda also opens up about tragically losing her best friend Mary to Cystic Fibrosis and Laura about losing her mother to pancreatic cancer and of recently, her childhood pet. When it comes to multitudes of grief, the girls have it covered, but just like everything else in the world, grief and trauma are unique to the individual so there is always room to explore and discuss.

If you or a loved one has experienced grief or has been recently bereaved then we suggest giving these two lovable lunatics a listen. You may learn a new coping strategy or just have a well-deserved laugh.
