Women’s Shed Limerick is holding a Speed Dating event fundraiser on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 8pm in the Unicorn Bar, Dooradoyle.

The Women’s Shed Limerick Speed Dating event is fundraiser for the Women’s Shed Limerick and Adapt House Limerick.

Women’s Shed Limerick is a new voluntary based community group who aim to make it as easy as possible for any like-minded group of women of any age to set up, run and maintain a women’s shed in Limerick to help combat rural and social isolation.

The women’s shed will provide a place for women to talk and contribute where practical skills and knowledge can be shared. Well-being is promoted in the shed by encouraging members to keep physically, mentally, and socially active.

The women’s shed is available to all women in Limerick, of all ages and backgrounds who wish to come together to support, socialise and learn new skills together and has a committee of seven officials. They have had several committee meetings and have previously visited other sheds.

Adapt House Limerick provide information to women who may be experiencing domestic abuse and offer a wide range of services of supports to women survivors of domestic abuse and their children across Limerick City and County.

Emma from Women’s Shed Limerick  said, “We’ve all been on a bad date, where we’d love to escape out the bathroom window. By meeting a single at speed dating, though, you should have already discovered in that short amount of time whether your personalities match and that you find that person attractive. Plus, with so little time to chat during speed dating, you can get all those awkward questions that you’d like to know out the way, such as their age, occupation, whether they have kids already, etc. This means, if you have any dating no-nos like no smokers or that they’re over a certain age, you can find out about it before you go on a real date.”

Speed dating is a proven way for singles to meet their perfect match. This means if you’re struggling to meet someone special in your life you have nothing to lose by getting yourself booked into the speed dating night.

They will be having lots of entertainment on the evening including a fantastic raffle with amazing prizes, prosecco and popcorn wall, a DJ, V.I. Ps, and of course the fun and relaxed speed dating itself.

So spread the word everyone, tell your friends, family, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, mothers, fathers, neighbors, work colleagues, and anyone who is single and ready to mingle or just come along for the craic.

The Speed Dating event is open to everyone (members and non-members) of all ages. There is an entry fee of €20.00 per person and it is at your own discretion if you would like to enter as a participant or just enjoy the evening. All proceeds are going to Women’s Shed Limerick and Adapt House Limerick.

To register please email [email protected] and we will send you a quick registration form along with the payment link.
