Childrens Grief Centre are calling out to the not so faint-hearted to take part in a test of will challenge where one must bravely walk across a trail of lego. The funds raised from this challenge will go towards refurbishing their new grief centre.

To be involved and to take on the challenge, all you need to do is gather as much lego as possible, pop it in a straight line and see who can walk all the way across it. Take a video or photo and tag Children’s Grief Centre and nominate three friends and support the Centre by donating €5 to their iDonate page or text CGC to 50300 to donate €4. Children’s Grief Centre will receive a minimum of €3.60.

Everyone can take part in this challenge. Test yourself and see if you can overcome the pain of walking across lego bricks and donate to a good cause. The challenge will run up until Tuesday, July 6.

Katrina Morgan, the fundraising manager for Children’s Grief Centre said, “The virtual Lego Walk Challenge is a fun idea that anyone with Lego can take part in, whilst supporting others to overcome challenges in their lives. Children’s Grief Centre launched this new fundraiser which was suggested to us by a friend and supporter of the Centre Cllr Daniel Butler. We are appealing for participants to step up and raise money for the Centre. Suitable for both adults and children alike, families are being encouraged to take part and test their bravery”.

“Children who are bereaved and grieving overcome many obstacles, by participating in this challenge we can show our support to them. You might ask why Lego? Lego is an excellent tool for young minds. It allows an opportunity for creativity and perseverance. Children often build lego houses, houses that can represent a sense of safety and security. The Children’s Grief Centre provides a safe space for children, and we need your help to build a brighter future for bereaved and grieving children,” she added.

The Children’s Grief Centre is a free support service for children and young people aged between 4 and 18 years who have experienced a loss due to bereavement, separation or divorce.

Some recommended safety tips from the centre;

1) Layout all the Lego in a line and contain it with a barrier

2) Keep your socks on if you need to but for the extra challenge, remove your socks.

3) Have someone near you to help you with balance

4) Relax, take a good big deep breath and walk with a flat foot

5) Walk slowly using small steps.

6) Make sure to brush off any pieces of lego before stepping away from the end of the challenge
