The iconic music venue based on Limerick’s Dock Road, Dolans has won the IMRO Live Music Venue of the Year for Munster, the prestigious award recognises the best live music venues in Ireland.

Also awarded to the group on the night was the Hotpress Live Music Venue of the Year Award, a special commendation voted on by readers of the music magazine.

On receiving the award, Mick Dolan was grateful to those who helped in making the achievement possible, saying, “We are delighted! A big thank you to our incredible staff, crew, musicians and loyal customers.”

The awards honour Irish venues that deliver the very best standards in live music entertainment. Hundreds of venues across Ireland qualified for the awards and more than 18,000 IMRO members were asked to vote for their top choices in an online poll.

Dolans was crowned Best Music Pub at the Irish Pub Awards 2023 also, showing the high standards the venue holds itself too.

This marks the second year running the Limerick venue has been recognised for the award, and had to compete with some great competition in the region with Coughlan’s, Cork; Theatre Royal, Waterford; Crane Lane Theatre, Cork; and Glór, Ennis, Co. Clare all making the shortlist for Munster.

The IMRO Live Music Venue of the Year Awards acknowledge the immense efforts made by music venues across Ireland, through the provision of world-class entertainment for their customers, their vital contribution to local economies and the significant role they play in providing a public platform for songwriters, composers and performers.

The IMRO Live Music Venue of the Year Awards were established in 2008 to celebrate the dedication and passion of those who work in Ireland’s live music venues, providing the public with exceptional live music experiences, week in, week out.
