Robbie was only four years old when he died. He was the youngest of three children with his older siblings being Bradley, age 8, and Shanelle, age 13.

Robbie, who was an O’Malley Park native, choked on a piece of food. Four days later on August 20, he tragically passed away in Temple Street Children’s Hospital, Dublin.

Melissa and Stephen, Robbie’s parents, made the courageous decision to donate his organs.

His parents said that Robbie had always wanted to be a superhero and now he is because he has helped save the lives of children in need.

Speaking to Limerick Live, Melissa said, “We decided to donate his organs because there was nothing, they could do for our child, but we could do something for someone else’s.”

Melissa said her son shadowed her and followed her everywhere, which continued despite his passing.

Melissa said, “We were going to the lift to go home and there out of the lift came the surgeons with Robbie’s organs, they had gone to the wrong floor. I had to laugh because even afterwards he was still following me around I couldn’t move without him. If I went to the toilet, he was there. If I went to the other couch, he was there. We saw him getting put into the van and then a few minutes later the van passed us on a different street. He was still following me.”

Even after his untimely death, he is still spreading happiness and joy for others in need. Robbie Power O Meara will be remembered forever as being a beautiful boy who gave sick children a chance at a new life.

Tributes poured in for the superhero on RIP.ie.

One person wrote, “Heartfelt sympathy to Robert’s parents. Grandparents, and little friends at this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you. He is in the arms of the angels. Rest in peace little man.”

Another commented, “My condolences to all who loved this beautiful little boy. Fly high with the angels and look over mammy and daddy. Forever young, forever four.”

Another said, “My condolences to Melissa and her partner and family, may your beautiful son get the best bed in heaven. May he rest in peace.”

Robbie is missed by his mother Melissa, father Stephen, sister Shanelle, brother Bradley, extended family, and friends in the community.
