VIDEO Team Limerick Cleanup2 launch new campaign
Team Limerick Cleanup2 (TLC2) has launched a campaign targeting all fast food outlets, supermarkets, convenience stores and service stations across the city and county of Limerick to support TLC2 by encouraging your customers to dispose responsibly of all waste cartons, cardboard cups etc. As part of this, all outlets and stores in Limerick City and Council will this week receive a range of TLC2 Point of Sale and will be encouraged to display the items over the coming weeks.

The hugely successful Team Limerick Clean-up that took place last Good Friday 2015 is set to take place again this year and they want everyone to get involved! Paul O’Connell and JP McManus launched the re-branded TLC2 late last year at the University of Limerick. The major clean-up day will take place on Good Friday, March 25, 2016, when thousands of volunteers will be encouraged to come out in force once again, to pick litter in their local areas throughout the city and county. Endorsed by Paul O’Connell, the official partners of TLC2 include, Mr Binman, The Limerick Leader and Limerick’s Live 95FM.
Paul O’Connell said, “Our inaugural event was incredible with over 10,000 volunteers taking part. Next year we hope to get more sports clubs and schools involved so the whole concept of keeping your locality tidy starts at grass roots level upwards. We all know that general litter waste in our city and county is an on-going issue, so we will be asking volunteers to come out again next Good Friday and enjoy the morning picking, sweeping and clearing their areas – essentially it’s easy and a bit of fun!”
Sue Ann Foley, Chairperson of the JP McManus Benevolent Fund said, “We are delighted that TLC2 will take place again next year. This is a great initiative in which communities throughout the whole of Limerick can participate across all generations to help make our county a cleaner place. I would like to acknowledge the tremendous support which Limerick City & County Council provides TLC2, along with our partners Mr Binman, The Limerick Leader and Limerick’s Live 95FM.”
It will only require a few hours of everyone’s time on Good Friday and getting involved was great fun as well as very worthwhile. Once again the TLC steering group, will be encouraging volunteers of all ages to register and get involved in this year’s campaign. It’s so worthwhile and enjoyable to get involved plus you’ll be helping save the environment!
